Champagne Doyard Vendanges

Côte des Blancs

Doyard

DOMAIN

Harvester-Handler for four generations and Winemaker for twelve generations, the Domaine is located in Vertus, a village in the Côte des Blancs. A family business with over ten hectares of vines in the Vertus, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Aÿ vintages.

THE VINEYARD

Grape varieties:
– Chardonnay (10 hectares) spread over one commune in 1er Cru (Vertus) and 4 in Grands Crus (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant)
– Pinot Noir (1 hectare) in communes in 1er Cru in Vertus and in Grand Cru in Aÿ.

Fragmentation: 54 localities, or an average plot size of 0.20 ha.

Average age of the vineyard: 40 years

No new planting, only replacement of dead vines annually with the aim of increasing the average age of the vineyard.

Sustainable viticulture, with as few inputs as possible in order to allow the terroir to express itself as best as possible (mechanical work of the soil in particular).

The final objective is to make the roots sink deep and thus extract the quintessence of what nature offers by strongly controlling the yields (permanent mounted Royat cordon pruning).
