Montagne de Reims

Clement Leclere Minard

Clement Leclere is the 4th generation of winemakers of Champagne Leclere-Minard in Coulommes-la-Montagne, in the Montagne de Reims. After apprenticeships in Australia, Burgundy and then at David Leclapart and Tarlant in particular, he began to create his own wines at the Coulommes Vrigny wine cooperative.

He works the historic family plots of 2.3 hectares on 3 great terroirs. Coulommes-la-Montagne, we find soils of clay, sand and silt. The soils of Tramery and of Courmas in the Ardre Valley there are shallow soils on which one very quickly arrives at limestone.

The estate has given up herbicides and works the soil with crawler tractors. The viticulture practiced is of the "very reasoned". He uses organic principles and vinifies his plots separately in oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. No chaptalization, no fining or filtration and he is moving towards single-varietal plot cuvées.

Clément is a young winemaker who likes to experiment, to think outside the box, he is instinctive but always firmly anchored in his terroir. He wants to produce brilliant, pure and free wines. Clément is certainly one of the most promising young winemakers.
