Champagne Bertrand Delespierre à Chamery

Bertrand-Delespierre

HISTORY&FAMILY

The result of the union of two children of winegrowers, Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand.

These are two generations who come together today to cultivate nearly 10 hectares of family vineyards since two of their children, Clemence & Adrien, joined them in the field.

This 6th generation of winegrowers fully intends to perpetuate the founding family values and to continue to highlight the expression of these unique terroirs.

PHILOSOPHY

It all starts with working the vines in a way that respects the terroir. This is how the vines can produce expressive, high-quality grapes.

The work continues with careful vinification: pressing on a traditional Champagne press. The juices, depending on their plot origin, are then placed in vats or demi-muids (600 L barrels) in which fermentation begins spontaneously.

Historically, malolactic fermentation on wines of the year is not carried out (this can occur naturally on reserve wines) in order to preserve the freshness and character of the wines.
The average aging is 4 years “on slats” in cellars and is much longer for vintages.

TERROIR & VINEYARD

The House is located in Chamery, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims.
The vines are planted in 4 villages: Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange and Montbre, all classified 1er Cru.

The 3 emblematic grape varieties of Champagne: Chardonnay, the Pinot Noir and the Meunier are equally represented within the vineyard. It extends over around ten hectares and includes around sixty plots with an average age of 30 years.

All the vines are grassed and the soil is worked over the entire vineyard.
The interventions are reasoned, each of them is necessary.
Biodiversity preservation measures are also being put in place: no herbicides, no insecticides and planting of hedges around the plots.
