HISTORY
The Josselin family, winegrowers from generation to generation, acquired in 1854 the first plot of vines on the land of Gyé-sur-Seine, a charming Champagne village crossed by the Seine.
From a few plots inherited from his parents, Jean Josselin, through hard work, built up a vineyard among the best hillsides, with evocative place names: Beauregard, Davasgné, Cosvigne. In 1957, the great adventure of Champagne began. He created his brand of Jean Josselin champagne.
VINEYARD
Each plot is unique. It is up to the winemaker to exploit it to the best of his ability, by making appropriate choices: rootstock, grape variety, cultivation method, yield management.
The vineyard is made up of 14 plots, they benefit from different exposures from each other, thus bringing greater diversity to the future wine.
At a distance of approximately 4 km from the farm, you have to cross paths, forests and valleys to discover our vines living peacefully to the rhythm of the moons and the seasons, lulled by a religious silence that only the birds and game disturb with their presence.
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Blanc are grown in a continental climate, on soft clay-limestone soils and allow the production of elegant and fruity champagnes.
The vine, in particular the Pinot Noir, finds in the clay-limestone marl soil of the Upper Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) all the elements conducive to its good development. It allows it to express itself through its fruitiness, its finesse and its lightness.
“By practicing plot-by-plot vinification, we learn to know our plots over the years. It is a long-term job and requires constant attention.”
ILLUSTRATIONS
The new packaging is intended to be closer to the spirit of the wines.
The estate has chosen to create real artistic illustrations, both linked to each of the champagnes and representing all the components of the notion of terroir.
So all the drawings are connected to each other. Jeremy MAGNIEZ, a young artist, has created six different illustrations point by point, line by line.
