Côte des Bar

Pierre Gerbais

If the estate as it exists today was born from the name of his grandfather Pierre, Aurélien is today the eighth generation to cultivate vines in the South of Champagne.

After technical and then commercial studies, internships with Olivier Lamy in Saint-Aubin and in New Zealand with Neudorf, Aurélien returned to the Estate in 2011 alongside his father Pascal.

The Estate represents 18ha of vines including 10ha of Pinot Noir, 4ha of Chardonnay and 4ha of Pinot Blanc, on Kimmeridgian marl soils and some clay-limestone bands. The entire vineyard represents around twenty terroirs, all different, but all located in Celles-sur-Ource. At the crossroads of the four valleys: the Seine, the Arce, Laigne and the Ource. A geographical and geological location close to Chablis, Sancerre but also the Côte d'Or.

This 40-year-old vineyard has been Ampelos certified since 1996, using very rigorous integrated pest management. The soils are worked mechanically, without synthetic products. Yields are limited.
