Champagne Laherte Frères - Nature de Craie NV

NATURE DE CRAIE – PREMIER CRU

This wine is vinified without any added sulfur to naturally express the Terroir, the Grape Variety, and our winemaking intuition. The must comes from the beautiful Côte des Blancs, from the terroirs of Vertus and Voipreux. Located on the lower slopes, the chalk is exposed at the surface. Naturally seeking full ripeness for the Chardonnays.

Viticultural practices: Vines cultivated with respect for living organisms. Parcels planted in 1960, 1965, and 1987.

Blend: • 100% Chardonnay. • Exclusively sourced from a single harvest.

Vinification: • Grapes harvested at full ripeness. Traditional pressing • Heart of the cuvée selection and gravity racking without racking off the lees • Slow alcoholic fermentation in barrels with some lees stirring. • Malolactic fermentation carried out • Aging on fine lees • Vinification without any added sulfur.

Dosage: Disgorgement à la volée. Zero dosage.

Champagne Laherte Frères

In Chavot, in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, the Laherte family has been cultivating vines since 1889, when Jean-Baptiste Laherte founded the estate and planted his first vines in the village, then known as Chavost.

Today, the sixth and seventh generations work side by side, with Aurélien Laherte leading this new generation since 2005. The estate covers just over 11 hectares across 75 plots, mainly spread between Chavot, the Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne.

At Laherte Frères, the philosophy is rooted in respect for living soils and a deep commitment to expressing terroir. Massal selection, plot-by-plot vineyard management, gentle pressing and barrel vinification allow the personality of each lieu-dit to shine through. Today, nearly 80% of the estate’s wines are fermented and aged in wood.

Precise, authentic and distinctive Champagnes that showcase the diversity of Champagne’s soils and grape varieties, with a particular focus on Meunier, the emblematic grape variety of Chavot.
