Champagne Pertois-Lebrun - Le Mont de Craie 2017

LE MONT DE CRAILLE N°17 • CRAMANT GRAND CRU • BLANC DE BLANCS

Having been established in Cramant for several generations, we were keen to express the identity of our original cru. In order to best reflect all its diversity, we opted for a blend of several plots rather than a single lieu-dit. The name of this cuvée refers directly to this, Cramant literally meaning Mont ("mant") de Craille ("Cra"). We therefore jointly press four plots scattered across the four corners of our village, offering as many distinct terroirs and facets as are revealed through a cuvée that is delicate and creamy with chalky roundness, typical of this vineyard.

IN THE VINEYARD

  • Grape variety: Chardonnay
  • Origin: Grand Cru plots from the "Moyens" (plateau), "Les Champs du Soleil" (heart of the village), "La Fontaine des Crochets" (slope, East exposure) and "Les Bauves" (lower slope, North exposure) lieux-dits
  • Vine age: Over 40 years on average
  • Viticulture: Environmentally friendly (mechanical soil cultivation, organic fertilizers and treatments, aromatherapy, biodynamic principles)

IN THE WINE ROOM AND CELLAR

  • Single harvest year: 2017 (N°17)
  • Vinification and aging: 10 months on fine lees in tank (100%), without fining or filtration
  • Aging: Minimum 5 years on lees
  • Dosage: Extra-Brut (1 g/l)

Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs in the Heart of the Côte des Blancs

Champagne Pertois-Lebrun is a family-run estate based in Cramant, at the heart of the prestigious Côte des Blancs. Founded in 1955 by Paul Pertois and Françoise Lebrun, it is now run by their grandsons, Clément and Antoine Bouret, representing the fifth generation of winegrowers.

The estate covers 9.7 hectares of vines, mainly spread across the Grand Cru villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oiry, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, as well as the Premier Cru villages of Cuis and Villeneuve. Since July 2020, the vineyard has been undergoing organic conversion, reflecting the Bouret brothers’ commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture.

The house’s philosophy is built around four core values: understanding and respect in the vineyard, and sincerity and authenticity in the crafting of the wines. This approach is expressed through exclusively Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, showcasing the diversity and richness of the Côte des Blancs terroirs.

Among the estate’s signature cuvées are “L'Extravertie” and “L'Ambitieuse”, Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagnes that showcase the Pertois-Lebrun family’s expertise and passion for Chardonnay.
