Krug Grande Cuvée was born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, who wished to offer the best possible champagne every year, regardless of climatic conditions.
The House of Krug thus pays tribute to his vision by offering, every year, a new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, the most generous expression of champagne.
Krug Grande Cuvée transcends the very notion of a vintage. It is the result of blending more than 120 individual wines, from about ten different years. Combining so many wines and years makes it possible to achieve a richness of flavors and aromas that cannot be expressed with wines from a single year.
172nd Edition
Created around the 2016 harvest, Krug Grande Cuvée 172nd Edition is a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years, the youngest dating from 2016 and the oldest from 2000.
In total, the reserve wines from the House's vast wine cellar represent 42% of the final blend and provide the breadth and roundness essential to every edition of Krug Grande Cuvée.
This edition of Krug Grande Cuvée is composed of 44% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier.
In total, more than 20 years of meticulous work were required to perfect this edition of Krug Grande Cuvée, which represents the 172nd recreation of the most generous expression of Champagne.
