Champagne Crus

Les crus de Champagne Succul’

Champagne Crus refers to the villages where the grapes used to make Champagne wines are grown. Each terroir has unique characteristics – soil type, exposure, climate and grape varieties – that influence the style and quality of the cuvées. Historically, these villages were ranked according to the Échelle des Crus, established in the early 20th century to determine the price of grapes. Municipalities rated 100% received the prestigious Grand Cru classification, while those rated between 90% and 99% were recognized as Premier Cru. Although this payment system was abolished in 1990, the Grand Cru Champagne and Premier Cru Champagne designations remain essential benchmarks for lovers of fine wines today. Beyond this classification, each terroir reveals its own identity: the Montagne de Reims produces powerful, structured Champagnes, the Côte des Blancs is renowned for its elegant, mineral Champagnes, while the Vallée de la Marne offers approachable, fruity cuvées thanks to the Meunier grape. Discovering the different Champagne crus is a better way to understand the richness of Champagne terroirs and choose a grower's Champagne that suits your tastes.
